Product Description Continuing Sports Illustrated's tradition of producing best-selling coffee-table books for the holiday season, SI presents The Basketball Book, a lavish celebration of the athleticism and pageantry of both the college and professional game. With the same kind of unforgettable photographs and award-winning writing that propelled The Baseball Book, The Football Book and The Anniversary Book to The New York Times best-seller list over the past three years, this volume brings to life the legendary players, the classic action and the great rivalries of the court. In 294 oversized pages, The Basketball Book commemorates the epic teams and characters, the personalities and performances and artifacts that have created legions of passionate fans since Dr. James Naismith nailed up a peach basket and devised the Original 13 Rules of the game more than 100 years ago.

Great visuals and verbals November 1, 2008 This is a must have book for every hoops historian and fan of Naismith's game.
Great Book with lots of facts October 28, 2008 This is the perfect book for every basketball fan. It gives loads of facts and lots of photo's.
The Art of Hoops October 23, 2008 It has been the photography - as much as the journalism - that has made Sports Illustrated an impressive chronicle of athletics and the courtside seating for basketball has been unique; the incredible growth of the NBA has coincided with the years of operation for the publication and fans could see the maturation from college to the pros - and ultimately to pop culture superstardom - for players like Jordan, Magic and Bird.
The nearly 300 pages is a unique perspective of sports as modern art and is an essential book for any basketball fan.

This is a great coffee table book. I purchased this for my husband's birthday and he really enjoys it. I am not a sports fan but the beautiful high quality artistic photos are very appealing to me.
