My love affair with the Sierra Club Engagement Calendar January 7, 2009 I love this calendar. Every year, reunited, I order at least 8 copies for my daughters, sons, and friends and they all anxiously await its arrival so they can note their schedules. The arrangement of this spiral bound calendar is so sensible. Every page of every month covers every day of the week, from Monday through Sunday, with enough space on each day to fill in with appointments, things to remember, etc. On every facing page is a magnificent nature photograph, with photographer attribution. The collection of these photos is visually inspiring, and on its own would make a great show. This calendar is a joy to use, and to save for future reference (like, when was my appointment last year with my dentist), and is easy to store as well. It is inexpensive to buy, and as a gift, it is one that keeps on giving.
sierra club weekly calendar January 7, 2009 I love this calendar. I buy one every year. This is my first time buying it online though. I will do it again next year too.
Memory books January 1, 2009 My collection of Sierra Club datebooks goes back 30 years and when I need to know when I took those lovely photographs of Takkakkaw Falls, say, (in British Columbia), I know where to look. These books are invaluable for record keeping and the photography is occasionally gorgeous, beyond merely pretty.
Attractive for personal use, and appreciated as a gift. December 30, 2008 I am an 85-year old who has been using Sierra Club calendars for years. I buy one for "my girls, daughters," for engagement calendars, as well as one for myself. I do photography and have an inerest in the pictures in the calendar.
Beautiful, but sturdiness could be an issue December 14, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've been using this calendar for many years, even decades at this point. The photos are fabulous and varied, though I don't disagree with the critique about fewer animal pictures. For a while I kept saying I'd get the Ansel Adams equivalent, but when buying a calendar in the bleakness of December, I always end up preferring color to black-and-white, so now I don't even think about it. I also agree with the comment about having just the right amount of space to enter necessary info (birthdays, etc. as well as engagements). I even have 4 pages of phone numbers I paste in front and back; not all calendars have the space for those. And for those of you thinking electronics are better, I STILL get to phone numbers and appointments faster than people who are looking them up on their blackberries, and get pretty pictures besides.
As far as sturdiness goes, I should preface my comments with the fact that I am really hard on everything, and use this calendar ferociously! However, this year I had a few pages tear out - maybe a slightly lighter weight paper than in past years? And I have had slight spiral unwindings in past years, mostly because a sharp edge caught on a sweater or something that I also had in my bag.
Overall, a terrific product, and a purchase decision I don't even revisit any more.
