Editorial Reviews:

Great baseball teams have always needed great shortstops, and this video hosted by former superstar Ozzie Smith is a glowing tribute to that very essential and very demanding position. Focusing on three stellar shortstops of today, Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, and Nomar Garciaparra, the video demonstrates through crisp action footage how today's shortstops are consummate all-around players, with batting power that rivals their exceptional fielding prowess. Besides showcasing current stars, this video, which was produced in conjunction with Major League Baseball, takes a trip to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, where Ozzie Smith relates the story of perhaps the game's greatest shortstop, the legendary Honus Wagner. Other great shortstops are also featured, including the great Cubs slugger Ernie Banks, Baltimore's "Iron Man" Cal Ripken Jr., and the legendary crosstown rivals "Pee Wee" Reese of the Brooklyn Dodgers and Phil Rizzuto of the New York Yankees. Besides interviews with sportswriters and commentators, other baseball legends such as Ted Williams and Earl Weaver appear to offer their insights into what makes a great shortstop. This is a highly entertaining video that will also offer inspiration to anyone aspiring to play one of the game's hardest positions. --Robert J. McNamara

5 out of 5 stars Is this what you're looking for?   May 26, 2001

This video is truly amazing! But let's make sure it's what you're looking for. While the video has some great plays by the shortstops they're highlighting, this is not a "Greatest Plays" video. If you're wanting a video that highlights the entire career of all the greatest shortstops (including a few active players) then this is the video you want. Superstar Shortstops covers everything about players from Honus Wagner to today's Rey Ordonéz. It has excellent footage of their fielding, as well as their batting and career as a whole. But no matter what type of video you might be looking for today, this is an excellent buy for all baseball fans.

Professionally produced, high-energy video for the baseball fan and player. Exceptional highlights of fantastic defensive plays from baseball's best shortstops. A must for anyone who plays the position as well as a true fan who enjoys being entertained by these All Star players doing the unbelievable.
